Support for children with additional needs in school

At Bursar Primary Academy, we strive to provide the best support we can to all children with additional needs.  We follow the Graduated Approach (please see below) to ensure that we quickly move to support children to achieve their full potential.

If you are worried your child may have additional needs, speak to your child's class teacher about your concerns at your earliest convenience.  Teachers will offer advice and support in the first instance, but please do come and speak with Mrs Dierking (SENCO) if you need anything further.

Graduated approach 1

Phase 1

This section is completed by class teachers in conjunction with parent/carer(s) and the child.

Graduated approach 2

Phase 2

This section is completed by class teachers with the support of the SENCO (Mrs Dierking), any outside agencies and with the views of parent/carer(s) and the child.

Graduated approach 3

Phase 3

This section is completed by class teachers with the support of the SENCO (Mrs Dierking), any outside agencies and with the views of parent/carer(s) and the child.  It may be approapriate to consider an Education, Health and Care Plan at this stage.
