Week 6
What another fantastic opportunity for our Year 4 and 5 children from Hazel and Willow class! Even our sports leaders and PE ambassadors for year 4, 5 and 6 were able to take part in a smaller session!
It was a brilliant experience to learn more about netball with the amazing Coach Steph Hanslip. The children developed key skills such as passing, moving, and shooting, and they fully embraced every moment of the day.
There were plenty of beaming smiles all round after such a memorable experience.
Week 5
We have been inspired by Van Gogh to create impasto style art. We spent the day mastering sketching, colour mixing and impasto techniques to create a final art piece, this will be open for parent viewing gallery next week.
Week 4
Our Geography field work this week was to make a sketch observation, labelling human and physical features including compass directions.
We considered what questions we have about what we can ask about what we can see! Hazel class loved this field work task. Well Done!
Week 3
SCIENCE
Will the amount of seeds planted effect the height a plant grows? We are excited to see how our cress heads grow.

St George’s Day 2026. We have discussed the story of St George and the dragon, Britishness, armour and have made our own Coat of Arms shield!

SHADOWS - SCIENCE
Does the distance between a light source and an object impact the size of a shadow?
Week 4
This week we have embarked on a journey through history, all the way back to the Stone Age! We were so excited to spend all day with Jonesy learning so much about the Stone Age! An amazing and unique immersive experience.

Week 1
PE - Football
We have been mastering dribbling techniques today using our dominant and non dominant foot. Learning how to roll with the sole of our foot at stop the ball for more control.

SCIENCE
This week we conducted a science experiment testing absorbency of peat soil, clay soil, chalky soil and sandy soil.
Week 5
The children are so excited to brought home their cityscapes of London inspired by the 19th Century folk artist Alfred Wallis.
They water coloured their background, stamped with poster paint and sponges their buildings then finally added their sketching and pencil work skills to add the finishing touches and details!
Week 4
Book of Books
This week, year 4 have LOVED exploring the dog man series. They’ve enjoyed drawing the characters and comic strips and have laughed along to the story!

Week 3
Cleethorpes Academy Art Workshop.
The children had an incredible time this week at Cleethorpes Academy! They created pop art inspired artwork with sweets, they cut, composed and traced their sweet designs using oil pastel, watercolour and crayon to make their creations, they even got a sweet treat to enjoy while they worked to inspire them even more.
We’re going to use pieces of each child’s artwork to create a huge art work, keep your eyes peeled for it next time you’re in school in the teaching corridor!

Geography-
In Geography this week, we learnt all about human and physical features in our local area. We had a quiz to see if different places were made by humans or if they were natural!
At home, ask us what human and physical features are!

How do computers work?
In our computing lessons this term we are exploring how computers work, we have each started to make a power point presentation to share all this information.

Week 7
Santa Claus is coming to town! Merry Christmas everyone, see you all next year!
Week 6
We explored the process of making a chunky winter soup as part of our food technology project. Pupils began with market research to understand consumer preferences and product knowledge, followed by taste tests to evaluate flavor combinations. They developed essential cooking skills while learning about hygiene and safety in the kitchen. The practical sessions involved preparing and cooking the soup, applying teamwork and problem-solving throughout. To complete the project, pupils designed creative packaging to present their product professionally. The topic was thoroughly enjoyed, with pupils working collaboratively and achieving success in both practical and design elements.
Week 5
International Day of Persons with Disabilities (DPD). This global day promotes understanding, inclusion, and respect for people with disabilities, and reminds us of the importance of creating a world where everyone can thrive.
As a school, we are linking this to our Bursar Value of Understanding Uniqueness. Every person is unique, and this day helps us celebrate those differences.

Week 4
During History, we have become up and coming film directors making a movie trailer for a film all about Grimsby in the 15th-16th century. The trailer was about the impact King Henry VII had on Grimsby. The Abbey and Nunnery were shut down. The buildings were taken apart. The land was given to rich people who helped the King. People had to go to a new kind of church and follow new rules.
Week 3
We learned about the Five Pillars of Islam, which are the key beliefs and practices that guide Muslims in their faith. We discovered their names—Shahada, Salah, Zakat, Sawm, and Hajj—and explored what each one means and why they are important. To help us remember and explain what we learned, we created a 3D model showing each pillar with its name, meaning, and significance.
Week 2
This week, Year 4 took an incredible trip to the National Fishing Heritage Centre. This was to support our history topic all about Grimsby how it has developed from origin to now. We had a fanstastic museum tour and even went aboard the Ross Tiger trawler. An incredible day and opportunity for all the children.
Week 1
PE - OAA
Our PE has been all about teamwork and communication, Hazel class loved this human knot task! They had to speak with clarity and use physical action to show they were listening to solve the clues. They also developed their communication skills by playing blind hide and seek with an object for their partner to find using hints and instructions.
Autumn 2
Week 7
We have been exploring cubism in our art topic in the style of Pablo Picasso, the children used faces and instruments to construct cubism art and use sketching skills such as shading, tone, tint, dark and light
Week 6
4 digit subtraction with exchanges can be tricky, but Year 4 have worked so hard using practical manipulatives and online tools to support their calculations!
Week 5
We have been researching more into natural disasters, specifically floods, to see how these are caused and their key features. This is in preparation for our warning leaflet on the impact of floods following our story re-tell.
Week 4
Mini Careers Fair!
This week, our children enjoyed a fantastic mini careers fair. They had the chance to talk with visitors about their jobs – exploring favourite parts, challenges, and the skills needed.
We also discussed how these careers connect to Grimsby, Cleethorpes, and our local area. The children asked brilliant questions and showed real enthusiasm throughout.
A huge thank you to our visitors for sharing their experiences, and to the children for their curiosity and excitement about the future!
Week 3
The function of the skeleton - SCIENCE
This week we have been investigating the function of our skeleton, whether they offer support, protection, movement or even two functions. The children have enjoyed measuring and comparing spines and femurs of themselves and friends. They were incredibly curious how some taller friends in the class had shorter spines than shorter friends!
Week 2
The children have been making digital content - a comic strip using saved images and PicCollage.
We have titled our comic ‘My Hero’, this week we have been adding speech bubbles to add conversation between characters and thought bubbles to show feeling and add mystery. It’s been very exciting and Hazel class have really enjoyed making these.
Week 1
PE
This half term our outdoor PE is all about athletics. This week we have learned sprints. We watched some clips from the olympics before learning how to sprint start. The children were very reflective and supported one another to improve their form.
